The only criticism I have is that the pace is a little slow at times.
The movie won the International Indian Film Academy Awards for Best Production Design (Sabu Cyril), Best Sound Recording (Resul Pookutty, Amrit Pritam Dutta – ‘Chammak Challo’), Best Song Recording (Vishal-Shekhar – ‘Chammak Challo’) and Best Special Effects (Red Chillies VFX), while Vishal-Shekhar were nominated for Best Music Director.Īt the Filmfare and National Film Awards, the film won the prize for Best Special Effects, while Filmfare also nominated the movie for Best Music Director, Best Male Playback Singer (Akon and Vishal Dadlani for ‘Chammak Challo’ and Shafqat Amanat Ali for ‘Dildaara’) and Best Lyricist (Vishal Dadlani, Niranjan Iyengar – ‘Chammak Challo’).Īt the Star Guild Awards, the movie won the prizes for Best Sound Design (Resul Pookutty and Amrit Pritam Dutta), Best Sound Mixing (Anup Dev and Tarun Bhandari), Best Special Effects and Entertainer of the Year (Shah Rukh Khan), while it was also nominated for Best Male Playback Singer (Akon and Vishal Dadlani for ‘Chammak Challo’), Best Choreography (Ganesh Hegde for ‘Chammak Challo’), Best Production Design and Best Editing (Sanjay Sharma). In terms of its soundtrack, Chammak Challo sounds out the best – this song-and-dance sequence is a delight. The set, camera, music, costume, sound and visual effects stand out best in terms of the technical aspects, because the set is terrific to look at the camera makes good use of the locations and also captures the tense and funny moments well, which get the edge-of-the-seat status the music is enjoyable to listen to the costumes are excellently designed on the gaming characters the sound is fantastic as you have to listen carefully the visual effects dazzle whenever they appear on screen. But even when the movie isn’t funny, you can still understand what is happening, because the narrative is definitely there from beginning to end. The script is written to a decent standard by the director, Kanika Dhillon and Mushtaq Shiekh as they make the movie good to follow and create some humour too, meaning the movie never takes itself too seriously. The direction from Sinha is very good because he allows the facial expressions to be seen to a strong effect throughout, while also keeping a mixed atmosphere happening as well. Kareena Kapoor and Armaan Verma are both fine in their respective roles as Sonia and Lucifer, Shekhar’s wife and son respectively. Shekhar is the computer programmer who invents his character, while G.One is the character involved in the game who has to rescue Sonia and Lucifer.Įlsewhere, there are very decent performance to be had from Arjun Rampal as the title character Ra.One, the main villain of the game who is determined to cause as much trouble as possible. Shah Rukh Khan gives a very good performance in his double role as Shekhar and G.One. But, it isn’t long before Ra.One arrives in the actual world and slays Shekhar. In Hindi/subtitles.įollowing disapproval from his son and manager, Shekhar, a gaming computer operator, makes an unbeatable simulated character named Ra.One. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal. Anubhav Sinha’s science-fiction adventure about an action game’s less commanding character who has to rescue his inventor’s relatives.
